Gresham supports Pension Awareness Week

Gresham Wealth

At Gresham Wealth Management, our mission is simple: to help you plan a secure financial future. That’s why for us, Pension Awareness Week (15–17 September 2025) isn’t just another calendar event, it’s a vital moment to pause, reflect, and take action.

Pensions are often misunderstood. If you’ve ever stared at your pension statement feeling like you need a degree in hieroglyphics, you’re not alone. The technical terms, different pension types, investment structures — it all adds up to confusion for many. Pension Awareness Week aims to demystify all of this: breaking things into plain English, answering the questions that really matter, and helping people see what’s going on “behind the scenes.” As wealth advisers, part of our job isn’t just managing funds, it’s translating those complexities so you can make informed decisions.

Many people think, “I’ll sort out my pension later.” Yet the earlier you engage, the more options you have: for contributions, investment strategy, managing risk. Even small adjustments made early can compound into meaningful differences over the long term. Pension Awareness Week is a prompt, a reminder, that the best time to start isn’t “someday,” but today. And for those who already have pensions, it’s a chance to review: Are you on track? Are your investments aligned with your retirement goals? Do you have more than one pension pot that could be consolidated?

Be aware of the value of your pension

Did you know there’s an estimated £26.6 billion locked away in old, forgotten pension pots in the UK? That’s a lot of people probably missing out, money that could be working for them now (or in retirement). We believe in helping you find every pound that’s due to you. Part of pension health is making sure old pots are found, consolidated if that makes sense, and tracked carefully.

Pension Awareness isn’t just about future retirement, it’s also about what you do now. Balancing your current life (income, family, lifestyle) with your retirement goals sometimes feels like walking a tightrope. This week’s live events (for example, sessions like “Balancing present and future self”) are all about helping you find that balance. How much to save? When to begin tapering back? How to think about inflation, healthcare, lifestyle expectations?

At Gresham, we believe good financial advice includes transparency, clarity and helping clients feel confident, not overwhelmed. Supporting Pension Awareness is consistent with that. We want our clients to understand what their pension is invested in, see clearly how much is going in and where, know when they’re likely to retire comfortably, and be able to ask the tough questions.

To make the most of this week, here are simple steps you can take: tune in to some of the Pension Awareness live shows — topics like “Your pension made simple”, “Finding lost pots”, or “When can I afford to retire?” are great starting points (pensionawarenessday.com);

Gather your pension statements, old and current, and look at how many pots you have, what fees are being charged, what the performance has been; ask questions… who’s managing your money, what’s your risk tolerance, does your current plan reflect what you want your retirement to look like; review your contribution… if you can afford to increase them, even by a small amount, that may make a big difference long term and seek advice if anything is unclear.

I am only in this position because of you. One of the best decisions I have ever taken going with GWM.

With great thanks for all your reassuring attention over the last year. It means more to me than I can express in a few words.

I just want to thank you and your team so very much for all you do for me throughout the year. It is a real comfort to know that my investments are in such capable hands. I literally couldn’t do it on my own.

We are both very grateful for the time you spent with us in explaining various options. We certainly feel we now both have a much better understanding of our situation & the decisions which we need to consider moving forward.

Thanks again for your advice, you have given me the kick I needed to take control and I’m very grateful for that.

We feel we can phone at any time during office hours if we need anything clarifying. Our financial adviser knows our personal circumstances and is in tune with our goals and lifestyle. His advice has been and continues to be excellent.

You’ve solved that dilemma for me… Thank you for being so clear and honest as always.

A very personalised service… All advice is tailored to my needs with great consideration to issues I may not have thought of myself. I feel confident about my future finances.

Thank you so much again for your time and brilliant advice.

Just a big thank you for all you have done for our family. We do appreciate it.
